Frequently Asked Questions

Pop Art

Can I choose my own colours for a Warhol painting?

Yes, you can. However that may not always be the best course of action. The colours used in a classic pop art portrait like Warhol, need to complement each other. Our artists have evolved colour themes that do so, and disturbing them may affect the original appearance of your Warhol. However in cases where you already have a similar painting and want something different or when you want the Warhol to complement your home décor, feel free to talk with our artists, who can help you through.

How do I select a good photograph for the portrait?

A good quality picture ensures a great looking portrait. First ensure that the picture you are sending is relevant to the portrait you require. For example, if you need a Lichtenstein portrait you need to select a picture that highlights your facial features. Alternatively, if you are planning for an i-silhouette you need a picture to match. Also ensure that the picture is,

  1. Over 150kb in size
  2. In JPEG, TIFF or PDF formats
  3. Has a good resolution, clear and sharp image

How is the artwork created?

Your artwork is created by a professional and creative team of illustrators, graphic artists and digital artists. Each artwork is made manually and we do not use artificial or pre-designed filters. We begin by adapting the size and characteristics of your photo to the required portrait. We then draw in the required style, fill in the detailing and do the colouring. We then send across a preview, and provide adjustments as required by you. Once it is approved by you, the final printing work is undertaken on the medium of your choice.

What type of frames do you provide for canvas?

Our standard canvas prints are delivered stretched on wooden frames that are 2cms to 4cms thick, depending on the size of the portrait. We do not provide an outside frame as the picture covers the edges of the wooden frame. If you want to have your portrait with an outside frame, you can have it done at a specialized shop near your house.

What is a piece landscape? What is a piece portrait?

A piece landscape has its longest side horizontally aligned while a piece portrait has its longest side vertically aligned. As a rule of thumb, panel numbers 1, 4 and 9 are usually portraits. Panels 3 and 6 are usually landscape. This is followed, in order to give a balanced look to the composition.

While those are the rules, we can also bend them if the need arises. You can also order alternative designs that have 24 boxes of photo collage on a 15cms x 240cms collage. This can be arranged vertically to mark separation on a wall.

Can I request for change in the artist’s proofs?

Yes, you can. Your satisfaction is of utmost importance for us, and you can ask for changes till you are completely satisfied. However, these changes can only be requested for colour and composition and not the style or face of the picture. A new style implies redoing the entire portrait and would attract cancellation charges of 25 euros before we begin working on another face or another style.

If I opt for themed artworks, will they all match?

If you plan for themed artworks do let us know in advance. Then we can adapt the colours and sub styles to make every artwork match. As you know more about the look you want from your home décor, convey it to us. We will help you attain the best possible result. If you are unsure, then take the help of our designers who can give you the perfectly themed interiors.

Payment

What modes of payment are acceptable at Personal Art?

Paypal is the preferred mode of payment at Personal Art. This gateway is secure and also accessible to people across geographical barriers. It is also free of charge for you (though we pay a fee), easy to use and provides the flexibility of paying with debit or credit cards. If you are unable to pay through this gateway, contact us at infoIE@personal-art.com and we will consider alternate measures suitable to you and us.

Are there any terms of payment for your product?

There are two distinct terms of payment applicable at the site. One, you can choose to pay the entire amount when you place the order for your pop art. This is a preferred way of payment and helps us to process your order faster. Alternatively, you can pay in two terms. The first amount is placed while you place the order and the second amount, when you approve the last preview (before printing). This may make things a bit slower, as we would need to check on the receipt of payment before we can process your order.

Is there a minimum amount of purchase?

No, there is no set minimum amount. The smallest amount payable at the site is thus the lowest price of products at our shop.

My transaction with your site keeps getting declined, what do I do?

There may be various reasons as to why your transaction is getting declined. Please ensure that you have provided all information correctly. If things still do not work out, write to us at info@personal-art.me.uk and we will find an alternative solution for you to pay and order.

Is delivery included in the price?

Yes, delivery to UK is included in the price. If however, your purchase is to be delivered to another country, separate delivery charges will be levied. You can find out more about the rates relevant for your country by contacting our support desk.

Products

What are the different mediums you print portraits on?

Canvas and posters are the basic mediums we work on. Besides these, we work on a range of other media too like wood, slate, ceramic and cloth. We are thus able to create a range of interesting objects like clocks, watches, accessories, clothes and mugs. The list is not exhaustive and we are always ready to work on new media, as long as it is printable, durable and of high quality.

Can I print my picture on a new medium, not specified on your site?

We are always ready to experiment and if you want your picture on a new medium other than those specified we are ready to help. All you need to do is contact our design team and we will do the best we can.

Can I order products in non-standard sizes?

Yes, you can. However do keep in mind that we do not have a standard price list for non-standard sizes. You can calculate the price of your product based on the next highest price in the list. In case of very large or specified prints, we will get in touch with you through phone or email to finalize the price before taking up the job.

What is the best way to care for my Personal Art?

Your Personal Pop art needs minimal protection and care. Just make sure that the canvas or poster is not placed in an area of direct sunlight. Harmful UV radiations can reduce the lifespan of your portraits to less than three years. Mugs, keychains and other items that we create are made to resist damage and will last long. Just be careful not to break them and follow the product-specific cleaning instructions.

Do humidity and changing temperatures affect the life of my product?

Water can damage canvas, paper and wood. So if you are purchasing a portrait on canvas, you will want to protect it from humidity and rain. Keep these prints indoors for maximum life span. If you are planning a purchase for outdoors, prints on ceramic tiles are a better choice, as they can withstand humidity, water and changing temperatures better.

Gift certificate

What products can I purchase with my Gift certificate?

If you have just received a gift certificate and the gift has been specified by the giver, we may have already worked on it. Then you can only avail of the gift that has been designed for you. If the giver has not specified any gift and has only outlined a price range, you can select whatever you want from the site within that price range. Alternatively, if there are special requirements, you can get in touch with our team members.

Is there a time limit within which I need to redeem my gift certificate?

Yes, there is. The period of validity of a special gift voucher would be specified on it. This date is specified based on the occasion and time of purchase of the voucher. If a date is not specified, then the voucher is valid for one year of usage. If there any changes you wish to make to its validity, you may contact our team members for personal support.

I have a gift certificate, but want to make a purchase over that value. Is it possible?

Yes, this is possible at Personal Art. If you want to make a purchase over the specified value, simply enter your certificate code and when asked pay the differential amount.

I have a gift certificate, but want to purchase under that value. Would the remaining amount be reimbursed?

No, you cannot do so. The differential amount cannot be reimbursed to you if you purchase under the value. You can opt to purchase other items on the site for that amount. You can however ask for a purchase voucher, whereby a voucher on the remaining amount will be issued and you can use it when you please.

Transport

How much time does a painting take for completion and delivery?

A piece of art usually takes ten days for design and delivery. Work on a painting begins as soon as we receive your order. For standard styles and orders, and on occasions where we are not in a major rush, we try to complete the picture in the first two days itself. A proof is then sent across for your approval. If you accept the design immediately, printing takes a day’s time, after which the product is sent across to you. Delivery takes longer, sometimes up to a week. Delays take place when the proof needs changes, when the courier service is slowed down because of local reasons or when we have a heavy work load on our hands.

How is the artwork sent?

Personal Art work is sent through professional courier services. The portrait is packed with bubble wrap and then kept in a strong cardboard box. Framed artwork is usually sent with corner protectors. Other products too are secured in suitable manner and sent across. If you are not at home, arrange that a neighbour can accept your package. Secure the delivery with your phone number and correct address.

Can my painting be completed faster?

We generally require ten days time to give quality output and deliver a portrait. However, if you are in a hurry and for special conditions, we can move heaven and earth to get your painting done faster. For this, you will need to inform us immediately after you place an order. Secondly, we are dependent on our courier-service for delivery, which often takes time. If you are in an extreme hurry, we can email you the finished portrait and you can get it printed by a professional printer in your neighborhood. Thirdly, you can also choose to opt for our gift certificates, which can save you time and get you quick results.

Would I have to pay extra charges for shipping?

No extra shipping charges are levied, if the artwork has to be delivered within the country. However if the artwork needs to be delivered out of the country, relevant charges need to be paid.

What do I do if my portrait gets damaged during delivery?

Items lost or damaged during transport can be easily exchanged for new ones. If you realize that the item is damaged at the time of delivery, do not sign or accept the package. If you have accepted the delivery and realized the damages later on, send us an email immediately, detailing the damages caused. In the latter case, we do not get refunded by the courier company, so a small fee would be charged from you for replacement.

Can I order for rolled artwork and get it framed locally?

Yes. If you are in a hurry and need an artwork urgently, or want to get it framed elsewhere, share your requirements with us. We can arrange to send you rolled artwork. Alternatively, you can also opt for an online copy, which you can get printed locally. This may work out to be more economical, though we cannot guarantee the final look and finish of the product.
