A Letter to Facebook, about the appearance of the PROMOTE Button and the preceding decrease of audience.

Hello Facebook Marketing Team,
I am quite displeased with what has happened on our Facebook pages. I understand that you decreased the % of reached fans in May, and that, 2 days ago, you installed that “Promote” button under each post for reaching a greater number of our followers.
We have “acquired” on a few pages quite a few “fans” mostly through advertising, and kept them by animating the pages a lot and giving away our nice designs.
I take the example of our Indonesian page: 57000+ followers. Before May, we attained between 2% to 5% reach, and a lot of “Likes”. In May, it has just dropped suddenly, this was questioning us, we did not understand… until your “Promote” Button appeared.
I am sorry to say that, but this is not a moral way to do business.
Instead of helping your clients as much as you can, you try to squeeze the juice from us without adding any value. And your prices are ridiculously high. 50 Euros for reaching our 5500 followers, on one post, for France???
I just stopped advertising on our Indonesian, English and German pages. I will stop soon the 2 others (French and Dutch) and just go on other social media, as I suppose you will pursue in this way. And I think that we will not be the only real business to do so. So, good luck with the big companies who can afford your tariffs and accept this theft of audience. We surely cannot, neither afford nor accept.
Regards,
Ronan Le Breton
